l think when someone is born they can have a love for horses regardless of a horsey family history. This happened to me.
Being from a poor single parent family l wasn't able to have a pony of my own, so l compromised.
We lived next to a dairy farm and after the cows were milked and fed they would often lay down.
From my prime position ,behind a tree l would leap on to the first unsuspecting cow.Invariably the would get up. Yes ! Unfortunately cows get up hindquarters first rather than forelegs first as horses do and l would be propelled over their neck. (the have very short necks)After a time l sorted out his problem by sitting much further back and tilted back as they struggled up.The steering and brakes were another problem. Eventually l got found out, got a good telling off and a kick up the bum.
I went on to be given naughty pony's from people who couldn't be bothered with them and became a much better rider for it.The things you do for a horsey fix!!!
