Hey guys....¿ I need some help!¿ Today I agreed to help with the youth program during this year's VA horse council meeting.¿ There is very little space for many horse related activities.¿ Last year they had a guy come in with a¿"fake steer" and they had a roping clinic.¿ That was a huge success.¿¿ Tough act to follow.¿ A vaulting¿(which is done on a longe line) clinic was suggested.¿ The age group is 9 - 16.¿ Any suggestions?¿ HELP!!!¿ :-0

There's this guy who teaches horsemanship. How to communicate with the horse. Common sense horsemanship. Stuff about being polite, respectful considerate, patient. Folks say he's good at what he does. Look him up at john sanford horsemanship. I hear he has 2 books on horsemanship and does clinics and demos.

Well Duh Starhorse! What a novel idea - We can have a "Who Wants to Be a Horse Owner" show, and if anybody answers "yes" they are immediately hauled off to the looney bin! :-D

Thanks for the invite Annie but I think I'll pass on the demo. The only trick my horse does is bow. I think that would get boring. Is the meeting open to the public?There's an event calendar on this website. It's off your main page at section 5. Maybe you could list the meeting there if it's open.

Hey 4beat! Great to hear from you! As a matter of fact - that subject has come up. That one was done 2 years ago, but still could be fun. THANKS! Want to come down and give a demonstration? :-)

Do you know anybody that teaches horses tricks? Something the kids could go home and try on their horses. Such as bowing, waving a flag, etc. It's not hard to teach a horse to bow

Hey Star, I love the idea of a vaulting clinic, however this is not a horse facility, so what little space there will be for any type of horse demonstration will not be soft. They could use the barrels and give a demonstration on horseback. There is a local lady who's willing to haul all that stuff up to Staunton, so I guess a lot depends on the 'powers that be.' I have seen a neat demonstration where they took a grey horse and painted internal organs on him so that people could have a visual as to what's inside, but I don't know if it could keep kids attention. Thanks - We may need another activity just incase it rains. :-)
